The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), along with Customs authorities, are responsible for the rationalisation and monitoring of Duty free and VAT free activities in Mauritius. The MCCI operates a counter in the departure hall and offers multiple services to tourists and Mauritians, such as the refund of duty and tax incurred during purchases (conditions apply), and the delivery at the airport, of duty free items bought at registered and approved by the MCCI.

A dedicated custom counter is also available in the check in hall for tax refund of goods or articles that go via hold luggage.
