Airports of Mauritius (AML) as the Aerodrome Operator, has the overall responsibility of the airport development and operations. As a highly committed organization towards preservation of the environment, AML conscientiously assesses and mitigate any adverse environmental impact of its operations.
AML ensures strict compliance with the Environment Protection Act of 2008 as well as all applicable legislations.
The AML Environmental policy sets out the organization’s framework to achieve an environmental friendly workplace.
With regard to sustainability, SSR International Airport was successfully accredited Level 2 in the ACI Airport Carbon Accreditation programme in July 2019. This global airport initiative aims at helping airports worldwide to move towards carbon neutral operation standards. As part of its accreditation for Level 2, AML has submitted a Carbon Management Plan with the objective of reducing the airport’s carbon footprint by 10% by the year 2021.
