This first day following the reopening of borders unfolds on a positive note. By noon today, more than 1100 passengers arriving from Dubai, Paris and London have landed at SSRIA. Some four additional flights are expected by this evening from nearby Reunion Island, Nairobi and Johannesburg, bringing the total number of passenger for the day to more than 2000.

Emirates Flight EK701 was the first to land at 09H08 with the impressive A380, followed shortly afterwards by MK015 from Paris. Passengers were swiftly channelled to the Arrivals Hall for the border and health controls.

The exterior of the Tour Operators Hall was particularly lively with Sega Welcome for the passengers. Passengers and airport personnel alike had a big smile on their faces for this first day.

Tomorrow, 02 October 2021 Eurowings will resume its flights between Frankfurt and Mauritius. Other companies such as Edelweiss, Saudia and Condor are also in the starting blocks.  

We therefore look forward to a successful resumption and to a gradual increase in the passenger traffic in the coming days.
